I had been looking to visit this location for a while now and always felt it was an image best suited for stormy weather. I had planned to stay in Glencoe for a few nights but the incoming weather had other ideas. Just before the winds got any stronger, I managed to get to the waters edge and whilst the light was great for it, the heavy snow showers had other ideas. In the end however, I managed to capture this beautiful image before retreating to the warmth of the car.

I had driven by this location on my way to Glen Affric and almost decided not to shoot it due to trying to catch the sunrise in a particular area. Something made me go back and I’m glad that I did. I’ve never experienced such a still quiet morning and with the added benefit of the fog, I managed to capture one of my favourite images of the year.

A beautiful seascape image captured at the Butt of Lewis (Rubha Rohanais) during a recent trip to the islands. This was the first time that I had ever visited and luckily with the weather changing from one extreme to the next, It setup some great opportunities. If you do ever visit here, this sea stack, although literally right next to the road, can be a little hidden but is just to the left of the red bridge when heading away from the lighthouse area. I do hope you enjoy this one as much I had do. The glow of the sun on the water really does give this a magical if not fantasy look to it and looks amazing when printed large. I can’t wait to return!

This image was captured during one of the strangest sunsets that i’ve ever seen and what better place to have witnessed it. On arrival to the Calanais Stones, the sky was filled with snow as it blew over the islands. Just as the sun was about to set however, it broke from under the cloud and lit up the sky in a way that I could only have dreamed for this image. I’d always hoped to visit the stones one day and on this particular night, Im not sure that I could have asked for better conditions.

An image taken at Tràigh Bheag on Harris. This isn’t a beach that many people stop at and is literally right next to the road. I was lucky enough that due to the changing weather, I could get down onto the beach and avoid the hail stones. Yes there were a few occasions where I had to give up and retreat to the car. This is a beach that certainly requires a little respect as the waves can come at you from any direction and easily take you off your feet. Always be prepared. In the end, I managed to grab this image which shows a beautiful flow of the water against the distant storm clouds rolling in over the mountains.

The iconic Wallace Monument in Stirling has lit up in many colours to support different causes over the years. I have captured the best of them which are now available as beautiful prints to hang on your wall. Which colour will you choose?
